The Japan Society of Clinical Oncology (JSCO) invites clinicians, researchers and medical professionals to join its membership to achieve its objectives.
To join the JSCO, please read the information about the membership below and follow the necessary procedures.

Eligibility for membership

Applicants for regular membership must meet one of the following criteria:

  1. Those with knowledge and experience of cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment
  2. Researchers with knowledge of cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment who hold a degree in medicine, science and/or pharmacy
  3. Qualified medical professionals (nurses, pharmacists, etc.) with knowledge and experience of cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment
Commitment to the JSCO

There is a growing interest in and expectations for the activities of academic societies. The JSCO requests its members to remain aware of their responsibilities in order to operate the JSCO properly. In this context, all applicants are required to pledge the following:

I will fully comply with the regulations and notifications issued by the JSCO and will ensure that my activities as a JSCO member will not impair the reputation of the JSCO or cause misunderstanding among the public.

How to apply for membership

Please follow the procedures below:

  1. Fill in the application form.
  2. Note that both you, and the person recommending you as a member, must sign the form.
    - Sign in the designated place.
    - You need a recommendation either from a Delegate, honorary member, or distinguished member. Ask the person to sign in the designated place.
  3. No admission fee is required, but please remit \10,000 using the invoice that will be sent to you later. This will be set off against the annual membership fee when your admission is approved.
  4. Send the completed application form to the JSCO Secretariat (c/o Invention Center of the Kinki District (Kinki Chiho Hatsumei Center), 14 Yoshidakawaramachi, Sakyo-ku, Kyoto 606-8305).

The form will not be accepted if it is incomplete or incorrect.

When your application form is received,

  1. you will be registered as a temporary member with the right of access to JSCO Journal on the Web, and receive information for members, and
  2. your application will be reviewed for approval by the Board of Directors, as defined in the JSCO bylaws:
    - If approved, the date when your application was received is regarded as the starting date of your membership and the remitted money will be set off against the annual membership fee for the fiscal year.
    - If not approved, the remitted money, after deduction of a handling fee, will be returned.

Please note the following:

  1. The fiscal year for the JSCO is from August 1 to July 31 of the following year.
    - Please do not delay in paying your membership dues: After a one-year delay in payment, delivery of the journal will be stopped; after a two-year delay, your membership may be terminated after discussion by the board members and Delegates.
    - Members who have failed to pay the whole amount of the membership fee and have not been a regular member for more than two years may not vote for, nor stand for election as, a Delegate.
  2. The information provided on your application form will be directly entered into the JSCO membership database.
    - Please notify the Secretariat of any change in your personal profile on the database, including the journal delivery address, home address and affiliated institution.
  3. Upon being approved as a member, you will be able to access the JSCO membership directory on the website page exclusively for members. Your personal profile, including your specialty, the university you graduated from, and the institution you belong to, will also be posted there.
